Apply now: Shaping the future of the Lufthansa Group as a Green Mobility Trainee

Summary
  • Interested Master graduates can now apply for the trainee program with its focus on sustainability
  • Assignments in various companies of the Lufthansa Group
  • Another program, "Pro Master Sustainability", offers opportunities to young talents

Developing solutions for a more sustainable aviation and thus actively shaping the future of the Group: The Lufthansa Group offers this and much more with the "Green Mobility Trainee" program. From now until September 2, interested Master's degree graduates who have already dealt with the topic of sustainability during their studies or internships can apply via the homepage www.greenmobilitytrainee.de. The trainee program begins on February 1, 2024, and runs for 18 months. With this program, the Lufthansa Group underscores its commitment to a future-oriented and more sustainable aviation industry.

The trainees will each work on three sustainability projects in different companies of the Lufthansa Group. A broad and diverse spectrum enables the trainees to gain an understanding of the entire aviation industry: from passenger transportation to logistics and technology to IT. In addition to the individual challenges of the companies, the trainees learn about the different ways of working, approaches to solutions and corporate cultures. They dive deep into the latest research and engage in close exchange with technological pioneers of sustainable mobility. Training in the areas of pitching, storytelling and project management round off the program.

Trainees acquire the necessary tools to help shape solutions for a shift towards a greener industry. Participants of the first generation with a focus on sustainable logistics participated, among other things, in the development of a digital dashboard for the individual CO2 calculation of freight shipments.

"Pro Master Sustainability" student programme

Young talents who are still at the beginning of their master's studies with a focus on sustainability also have opportunities to shape the Lufthansa Group more sustainably through the student program "Pro Master Sustainability". Lufthansa Group pursues ambitious sustainability goals

The Lufthansa Group has always contributed to the progress of aviation and is leading the way in the transformation of the industry. The Group has set itself ambitious climate protection goals and is striving for a neutral CO2 balance by 2050. Already by 2030, the Lufthansa Group wants to half its net CO2 emissions compared to 2019 through reduction and compensation measures. The reduction target by 2030 was validated in August 2022 by the independent Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). For effective climate protection, the Lufthansa Group relies in particular on accelerated fleet modernization, the continuous optimization of flight operations, the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and offers for private travelers and companies to make air travel or the transport of freight more sustainable. For decades, the Lufthansa Group has repeatedly been the launch customer for new, future-oriented aircraft. More than ten years ago, Lufthansa was the first airline worldwide to test the use of SAF in regular flight operations. As a driver of innovation, the Lufthansa Group equips aircraft with fuel-saving AeroSHARK film - as the first airline group worldwide. In addition, the Lufthansa Group has actively supported global climate and weather research for many years.
