Lufthansa Group appoints Luis Monreal as Director - Sales Middle East
Lufthansa Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Luis Monreal as Director - Sales Middle East, effective 1 April, 2025. Based in Dubai, Luis will lead all sales and commercial activities across the Lufthansa Group’s Middle East region, overseeing market representation for Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, Brussels Airlines, Edelweiss and Eurowings across 15 countries. The region includes the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Levant, Iraq, Iran and Pakistan. In this role, he will report to Felipe Bonifatti, Lufthansa Group Vice President Sales Asia Pacific, Middle East & Joint Ventures East.
Together with his regional sales teams, Monreal will further strengthen the market presence of the Lufthansa Group airlines, including supporting future network alignment with ITA Airways. His focus will include advancing modern distribution capabilities and increasing the relevance of Lufthansa Group’s sustainability-led commercial solutions across the region.
Monreal brings more than two decades of international airline management experience to the role. He joined Lufthansa in 1997 as a trainee while studying Economics at the University of Barcelona, before moving to Lufthansa Cargo as a Business Developer in 1999 and later serving as Global Account Manager. In 2007, he transitioned to Lufthansa Airlines’ passenger business as Head of Business Development for Spain and Portugal. Since 2012, he has held senior sales leadership roles across multiple markets, including the Netherlands, Spanish-speaking South America and, most recently, selected Gulf markets.
A Spanish national, Monreal has been based in Dubai with his family since 2022 and holds an MBA from Instituto de Empresa (IE).
