Dr. Detlef Kayser
Member of the Executive Board Airline Resources & Operations Standards Deutsche Lufthansa AG
Dr. Detlef Kayser (53) has joined the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG on 1 January 2019 and is responsible for the business area Airline Resources & Operations Standards.
Kayser, who holds a doctorate in aerospace engineering, joined Lufthansa Group in January 2016 and has been responsible since then for group-wide strategy as well as for the commercial and technical fleet management of Lufthansa Group, groupwide organization and processes as well as corporate governance and corporate investment management as Executive Vice President Strategy and Fleet.
Before joining Lufthansa Group, Detlef Kayser worked for the consulting company McKinsey in a variety of positions, most recently as Director in the company’s Hamburg office.
At McKinsey, Kayser was the Global Head of “Manufacturing Practice”, advising clients from industry and public administration in over 100 successfully implemented projects, including several for Lufthansa Group.
He has also made a name for himself as an expert for the Weise commission for the restructuring of the German armed forces, a co-author of the commission’s report and a member of the support team for the Munich Security Conference.
Detlef Kayser was born in Kiel on 28 March 1965. He is married and has three children.
